Isleñas’s mission is to contribute to Puerto Rico's social transformation through manufacturing. Within its mission, Isleñas partners with NGOs and entities to actively contribute to building Puerto Rico’s fashion infrastructure and modernizing the sewing industry. A great example of their commitment to their promise is their train-to hire-program. This program helps women from different backgrounds to get training at Isleña’s in-house office and factory, then employment opportunities.

Isleñas offers sandals, slides, mules, espadrilles, and sneakers. What makes Isleñas shoes unique is that the entire collection is a go-to shoe, flats and low heights crafted with styles, comfort features, and a lot of colors. Isleñas collection is always bright and warm, carefully crafted with over 50 colors of leather.
Owner: Isleñas is a female-owned brand founded by Karla Lopez Rivera. Karla is an industrial designer with 10+ years of experience in the footwear industry. She has a BFA in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design, US, and a Master’s degree in Footwear Design from Polimoda Firenze, Italy. She returned to Puerto Rico in 2018 and launched Isleñas. Improving quality of life through design drives Karla. She believes that modernizing Puerto Rico’s sewing and fashion industry will provide more opportunities to women living on the island.
Karla is also the founder of Modo Consciente. Meaning Conscientious Mode in Spanish, Modo Consciente is a female-led community of Puerto Rican designers practicing and encouraging sustainable fashion and lifestyle products. The community provides Puerto Rican brands practicing fair fashion to a wider audience in and out of the island.
