10 Ideas For Celebrating Easter At Home

With the rapidly spread COVID-19 virus causing many people all over the world to abandon their traditional Easter plans, it's time to think of new ways to celebrate Easter this year. Fortunately, you don't have to get upset about this situation because you can still enjoy Easter at home this year with these 10 creative ideas we came up with!

These are things we can all still do to celebrate one of the most wonderful times of the year while staying at home in isolation.

1. At Home Camp

If you usually camp or go away for Easter on a trip, why not recreate this experience at home? Set up a tent in the backyard or on the front lawn and get creative with the family!

If it's cold, you could even get a campfire started and roast marshmallows or make S'mores. To make things even better for the kids, secretly set up an Easter egg hunt around the garden or backyard for them to wake up to!

2. Recreate An At-Home Church Experience

If you usually go to church on Easter Sunday, there's no reason why you can't pray, sing, and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus at home with the family.

You can find plenty of Easter prayers and worship songs online, too. Furthermore, you might find many churches will perform the service online via live stream or a podcast.

3. Easter Egg Hunt

You can start an Easter egg hunt anywhere, including inside the house. Get your children to stay inside a room while you and your partner scatter the eggs in secret hiding places.

Think outside of the box! Put them in unsuspecting places, like in the opening of shoes, drawers, behind house ornaments, etc.

4. Arts & Crafts Activities

Get your kids involved with helping to celebrate Easter at home this year with arts and crafts activities. You can create egg baskets, dip-dyed eggs, and more to give your home a fun, "Easter" atmosphere!

5. Call Friends & Family

Just because you're stuck at home doesn't mean you can't say hi to your friends, family, and relatives via the internet or phone!

Get your family together and start a video call with them. You could even do a "virtual" Easter egg hunt together!

6. Make & Send Easter Cards

With all of this extra time at home, why not make the effort to create and send out Easter cards? You can get your children involved with creating fun and colorful cards that will surely bring a smile to the receiver's face!

7. Cook/Bake Easter Goods

Celebrate Easter at home by cooking or baking some cherished Easter recipes, like Easter cookies, hot cross buns, or even your own Easter eggs if you're up for the challenge.

8. Play Games

There are a lot of different games you can play at home for Easter - and it's not limited to board games!

On Easter Sunday, you could pretend to be the Easter Bunny and leave secret messages for your children to investigate, leading them to the ultimate prize (chocolate, toys, etc.). This is similar to the famous "follow the clues" game.

Or why not set up other traditional games like bingo, the jelly bean race, blind taste testing, or the egg & spoon race? This is guaranteed to get your kids in the holiday spirit!

9. Make An Easter Piñata!

You can make your very own DIY Easter Bunny Piñata for the family to crack open at home! All you need is some fine crepe paper, ribbon, glue, tape, cardstock, a pink pom pom, and scissors.

Fill it with lots of Easter treats and let your kids try to extract them in the backyard.

10. Garden & Plant New Seeds

Considering Easter Sunday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, it's only fitting to plant seeds as a symbolic activity. Your children can help you with this, too.

Plant marigold or petunia and watch them sprout as a message to your children of new, flourishing life.
